Yummy411: Daytime Cult of Cherry Look

You all know me, I've been more interested in soft, daytime looks as that's what my conservative environment calls for. Here's my daytime Cult of Cherry look using the Tempting quad.... AND a few other goodies I want to tell you about!

FACE:

• Cosmedicine Medi Matte oil control lotion in t zone
• Almay face brightener (sheer shimmer SPF15) in Bronze Afterglow -- it's like a liquid shimmer bronzer
• CG Queen Collection Natural Hue Mineral Pressed Powder in Light Bronze* -- I love the purple compact!
• MAC Medium Dark Blot powder in t zone
• CG Queen Collection Mineral Bronzer in Light Bronze

EYES:

Tempting Eyes Quad (Cult of Cherry)

• Base- L'Oreal HiP paint in Lofty
• Lid- Next to Nothing
• Crease- Tempting
• Outer v- Dark Edge
• Highlight- concealer and a barely there sweep of Next to Nothing
• Tear duct- Sharp
• Dermablend concealer in Tan
• Waterline- Revlon Colorstay liner in black
• Bottom lid (under lashline)- Blue Storm e/s
• Top lid- Maybelline liquid eye liner- black
• Brows- (bleached/tinted brows) Girl Boy brow set, Cork e/s, a touch of concealer in one or two spots to sculpt and shape
• Mascara- Maybelline Colossal-- I'm starting to appreciate this.

LIPS:

• Mary Kay clear lip liner
• Propogate lipstick
• NARS Turkish Delight lip gloss*

This is an initial review, but I wanted to tell you guys about this pressed powder. It's one of the newest products for CG Queen Collection. A nice, light, mineral powder that gives you a polished look without the cake foundation feel or dull powder look. I'm excited about how easy and fool proof this is. I'm going to use it longer so that I can give a more accurate account of it's wear, etc. I must say though, that I'm loving this so far.. AND the gorgeous purple compact!

Over my Propogate lipstick, I'm wearing KimK's fav.. NARS Turkish Delight, which is described as a sorbet pink. The gloss is very nude as you can see and is non sticky. Can be used as a nice frost over other lipsticks, or a high sheen on it's own. A lip gloss luxury and indulgence. I was so excited to try this as Kim K raves about it as her fav, unfortunately it's not mine. Nice, but $$$ v. overall performance= hmmm?

Yummy411: Go Mommy Go!, Coastal Scents Mineral Makeup and More!

Hello mi ladies!

More and more these days, my makeup is very minimal to fit my fast paced lifestyle and conservative workplace. As I'm racing to do things I find myself chanting Go Mommy Go! I guess because I feel that all that I'm doing is mommy related-- rushing from work to the metro, to get my car, to get to daycare, to get home, to get some dinner and it doesn't end there (don't ask about blogging.. grrr)

As I have these moments I'll share them with you, Fotd's, etc. entitled Go Mommy Go! (while BabyYum, who is actually KidYum now, chants Go Diego Go!)

I wanted to be a tad presentable when going out so what quick look did I pull together? This one:



Face: moisturizer formerly applied, spritzed on some Fix+, buffed in some Coastal Scents mineral powder* to even my complexion, dab and blended in a wee bit of concealer
Eyes: put a swipe of Woodwinked eyeshadow on just the lid ( a goldish frost color), lined my top lid with Maybelline liquid liner (the one with the felt tip), and lightly lined my waterline with Milani's Color Brilliance pencil in Aqua; two coats of Maybelline's XXL Curl Power mascara, a touch of blush, barely noticeable..
Lips: a swipe of brown/taupe gloss, but after a MAC run, I have Pleasureseeker lipstick on...

Woodwink eyeshadow is becoming a winner in my book. Look how it performs by itself! No expert blending needed.
*Coastal Scents Mineral Powder/foundation: I have had a few samples of mineral makeup around for quite some time now, but I've been super hesitant to try them. Since I've been into mineral shadows, I just figured I'd give in. What's the worst that could happen? A nasty breakout or walking around not realizing how bad a powder has oxidized? Oh yeh, those things could happen and are actually devastating. But, I was up to the challenge!

I wore the medium 1.2 shade out. While it initially matched, it seemed to oxidize down to a darker shade that I wasn't as comfortable with... with a super slight, tinge of gray (at my cheeks' contour areas). I still got compliments from MAC artists *gasp*... One counter lady said even though it was a hint darker than what I needed, it gave me a bronzey glow. I'll try the medium shade next. I gave myself quite a few sprays of Fix+ trying to down the powder look. The powdered effect didn't quite die down as much as I would have liked, but once I looked in the mirror about 6-12 inches away, it was okay. As the powder melded with my skin, I got the even toned dewy look that you can see in the pics. I went out at night when it was rather cool. Could it stand up to heat? I doubt, just like many other mineral powders. As I play around with these powders I'll continue to give updates!

Yummy411: Pure Luxe Swatches

Dear friends,

I've been so curious about a lot of the mineral makeup eye shadows and online makeup. I've only tried a few, but those few companies aren't known for their bold and spicy color selections like these others that I've been drooling over. So finally I took the plunge. I am very apprehensive about ordering makeup online especially since many of these places only take Paypal. Secure, but just fishy because everything isn't guaranteed.

I ultimately went with two companies so far that made me feel rather comfortable from their sites: Pure Luxe and M*A*D Minerals. Deciding on colors was easy as I used Rocketqueen as a guide ;)

First up for swatches is Pure Luxe. (All swatches done dry, using the flash on my camera.)

I ordered some red glitter, Ruby Slipper. I wanted some to help with some ruby red lips that I keep imagining! Port Red and this glitter? Wowzers!

(l-r) Antique Lace, Promiscuous, Peach Champagne and Darling eye shadows. The first two I'm interested in using them as highlighters for the brow bone.

(l-r) Hi Ho Silver, Sour Apple, and Rococo. Not the silver I expected, but oh well.

Last but not least, MOON GLOW!!!! This was love at first site. I thought this was the highlighter that Rocketqueen uses, but I guess it's pretty similar. I was very anti-highlighter for a while, using only concealer. Since seeing this and using this.. ahhh the world is a different place! It looks a bit ashy here as it's a yellowish, cream color. It's almost a more refined version of MAC Dazzlelight (?) eye shadow of sorts. Use a #217 brush to apply= LOVE.

About the shadows: I like these shadows because they are finely milled, like most mineral shadows that I've used so far. The staying power is awesome, but of course I'd still use a base or wet them for more intensity. I look forward to purchasing more. I have to finish up going through her fotd's to find some more awesome colors to play with! [ETA] Also, Pure Luxe has an entire makeup line, but I wanted to try the shadows as an introduction to the line.

What you should know when ordering from many of these sites: most have great options to buy samples or a full jar, most will use paypal so be very specific if you have a shipping address different from your billing address. Put this info on the site's order form as well as paypal !!!

Next on the to buy list: Taylor Made Minerals, , Fyrinnae, The She Space, and Coastal Scents mica (TMM and Fyrinnae's website were driving me crazy, so no order just yet!)

Yummy411: The She Space Limited Edition Set- Color for a Cause

Some of you may be familiar with The She Space, the wonderful mineral makeup company that I'm anxiously wanting to purchase from.

Heather at The She Space came up with two limited edition colors for Colors for a Cause- a birthday fundraiser benefiting a young boy, Chris that is suffering from cystic fibrosis. Check out her wonderful cause for which she's raising funds!
