CoverFx Needs You to Help Raise Money to Fight Skin Cancer During the Month of June!

Hey there!

As we are knee deep into Spring and Summer is fast approaching, many of you may be in search of a tinted moisturizer. With ninety degree weather upon us, less can definitely be more. Well, here's a new product that's worth a try. Cover FX has a new tinted moisturizer (Skin Tint FX Moisturizing Treatment & Tint SPF 30). Here are the claimed benefits of using this product: This lightweight, tinted moisturizer gives you a sun-kissed glow while moisturizing and protecting your skin from the damaging effects of the sun. The formulation is water resistant for long wear, which is great for Summer weather, and is oil and paraben free. It also contains anti-aging, anti-wrinkle, and skin repairing ingredients.

Cover FX has a new foundation primer as well, Brite Prep FX, which claims to brighten skin, diminishing the appearance of lines and pores, and protect against the damage UV rays can cause with SPF 50. The formula is said to create a great canvas for foundation blending and long wear.

During the month of June, Cover FX will donate a portion of sales for each unit of Skin Tint FX Moisturizing Treatment & Tint SPF 30 and Brite Prep FX sold to these skin cancer research foundations: The Skin Cancer Foundation, Skcin, The David Cornfield Melanoma Fund, and The Karen Clifford Skin Cancer Charity. So, try out these new products and support a great cause all at the same time. Be sure to let us know how you liked the products if you decide to try them!

I have yet to try these particular products, however, I have used and continue to use the Big Cover Up by Cover FX. I was pleasantly surprised with the great results I achieved with this product, and my clients also love it. So, I am excited about trying the tinted moisturizer and Brite Prep as well. I'll let you all know what I think. Stay tuned... :0)

Stila Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20

Danielle87 this review is for you ;)

Stila says: "Skin instantly looks softer and younger with this handy multi-tasker. It delivers a hint of sheer coverage, subtle shimmer, SPF [20] and added moisture in one effortless application. Perfect for everyday use, the silky formula blends beautifully for a pretty, luminous look. "
Take a look! Stila offers two shades of this product and this is Shade 02. A drop of the product is on my hand and below it is the product blended out. Look a little closer, it's there! Stila is right... just barely a hint of sheer coverage with luminosity and moisture. The illuminating glow is from slight pinkish glimmer. Gorgeous under low lights (Sephora got me this way!), but barely noticeable in inside lights. Maybe out in the bright sun, I would see more glow, but usually I'm on the go and not really checking myself in mirrors. Besides, I have to cover this with something whether its blot powder or a setting powder (that's not too translucent) to keep shine at bay.

This definitely felt like a moisturizer and whatever tint existed pretty much disappeared. I would recommend this for people who don't wear makeup (more than gloss and mascara) and those that have dry skin type.

I wanted a one step all over glow system (reminiscent of MAC's discontinued hyperreal foundation), but the glow and light coverage that I was looking for isn't strong enough for my taste.
Because the tinted moisturizer felt like a moisturizer first, I used it in lieu of my regular moisturizer and under my foundation, MAC Prolong Wear especially since it can be drying (esp. during these drier months).

For a tinted moisturizer without the glow, Stila offers the Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer.
For skin tones darker than me wanting a sheer glow, Stila offers the Bronzing Tinted Moisturizer.
I actually had a hard time choosing between the illuminzing TM and the bronzing TM. I love a sheer bronzing product when I'm tanned.

Regular price for this is $30, but Stilacosmetics.com has it for $16 on sale.. *blink blink* Where's my receipt for Sephora??

Have you tried this? What's your favorite tinted moisturizer. Do you have a one step on the go face product? Share! I wanna know!

CoverGirl 40% off at RiteAid this week

... and BOGO (buy one, get one) half off at Walgreens! [SALE ENDS 3/12/2011]

Here's what I've scooped over the week: a few of the Natureluxe balm sticks, the liquild silk foundation and 2 of the new Lip Perfection lipsticks. I've heard so much about the Lip Perfection lipsticks, a good sale was all I needed to get the goods!

So far, so good! When I first got the items I did a quickie swatch -thru and instantly heard one of my favorite songs in my head- "I'm Still In Love With You" by Sean Paul and Sasha. Then I said in my #messymya voice, 'Baby, when I tell youuuuuu!' I'm completely excited and swooning over this stuff! The only drawback... it's hard to find a Rite Aid in my area with the Queen Collection. What's up with that? I want to see her collex of Lip Perfection lipsticks too!
"I'm still in love with youuu CoverGirl!"-- me wearing one of the 'luxe balm sticks.

I still have to play around with the lipsticks to be sure how I feel about them. Ahhh! Adding stuff to my review list....

Yummy411: MAC Foundation Discussion

When I have burning MAC questions and I haven't gotten them answered by my friends or at a counter, I chat with a MAC rep on the MAC chat. This time, I asked about foundations. Here's the transcript of our convo:

Chat Transcript

info: Happy Holidays from MAC Cosmetics Online. One of our Artists will be with you shortly.

info: Hello. Thank you for your interest in MAC Cosmetics. My name is Barbara. How may I assist you?

kia: hi barbara.. i am writing in today because i'm interested in finding more good foundation

kia: can you tell me the difference between satinfinish mineralized foundation and the hyperreal foundation?

Barbara: Hi Kia. We've got some great ones at MAC. I'm glad to help.

Barbara: Sure!

Barbara: MAC Mineralize Satinfinish SPF 15 Foundation liquid formula blends the light-reflecting properties of micro-minerals with a smooth, natural-satin finish. It provides medium-sheer buildable coverage with a subtle luminosity.

Barbara: MAC Hyper Real Foundation SPF 15 illuminates the skin creating a healthy-looking glow with a satin finish. You will notice a beautiful iridescent pearl to the skin. The silicone-based formula provides medium-sheer, buildable coverage.

Barbara: Click here for the MAC Foundation page.

kia: they don't sound different to me.. they sound like the same thing

Barbara: The Hyper Real Foundation has a noticeable pearl to it so there is an iridescent, satin finish to the skin. It's a much more "radiant" formula than Mineralize Satinfinish.

kia: oh ok... and how does the silicone based formula work differently with the skin than the satinfinish foundation?

Barbara: Silicone is very smooth so Hyper Real glides on the skin and will help to give you an even texture.

kia: so hyper real is better at evening out texture where as the satin finish mimicks your real skin?

Barbara: That's a great analogy. Yes!

Barbara: Also, don't forget that there is a pearl to Hyper Real. Think skin like Jennifer Lopez who always has that glow.

kia: so where does the studio fix fluid and tinted moisturizer (don't know the exact name) line up with the other two?

kia: side note: oh i love iridescent skin.. that's why i'm considering buying the hyperreal. i actually love the pink in nw, but i've been matched with nc400 i think

Barbara: Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 is a matte finish with more coverage (medium-full). Select Tint SPF 15 is super sheer and with a satiny finish.

kia: when you say satiny do you mean dewy?

Barbara: Yes, satiny as in dewy.

Barbara: If you love iridescent skin, Hyper Real is the best choice.

kia: i love iridescence, but what i usually do is matte my skin out and add iridescent powders on top.. i'm hoping that the iridescence in the foundation won't enhance a sweaty look... =(

Barbara: It won't make you look sweaty. If you have an opportunity to try Hyper Real, I highly recommend it.

kia: for combination skin (oily t zone) how do you suggest using it?

Barbara: You can apply it with a brush like the #190 in downward strokes. Then through your t-zone, pat Blot Powder/Pressed to take care of any shine. You can touch up with Blot Powder/Pressed through the day too.

Barbara: Click here for the MAC Powder page.

kia: what's the difference between studio fix powder and studio fix fluid? what's the advantages of one over the other?

Barbara: Think of Studio Fix Fluid as a liquid version of Studio Fix Powder. They give the same coverage and both a matte finish (although Studio Fix Powder is more matte). It really comes down to personal preference in terms of advantages. Some like a powder and others like a liquid.

kia: while over at the powders page.. what's the difference between a loose/pressed powder and a blot powder?

Barbara: Loose powder is a little more sheer however, it's barely noticeable. They perform the same function (setting foundation and reducing shine). If you like to carry your powder, the pressed format is convenient to put in your bag and less messy.

kia: hmmmm so there's not much diff between a blot powder and pressed... why are there two?! lol just to confuse us? do you prefer one over the other?

Barbara: Sorry, are you referring to the two formulas of Blot Powder (pressed vs. loose) or Blot Powder vs. Select Sheer Loose Powder?

kia: the latter

Barbara: My apologies, I misread your question.

kia: oh no prob =)

Barbara: The Select Sheer Loose Powder gives more coverage. It's great for setting foundation or for a touch up or two but any more than that it will start to build up on the skin. You don't get that from Blot Powder (the build up that is).

Barbara: On combination/t-zone skin, Blot Powder is my suggestion.

kia: cool.. so do they still serve the same function? and i won't get build up with blot powder?

Barbara: Yes, they serve the same function. Blot Powder will absorb more oil however and it won't build up with repeated use.

kia: great! will the blot powder take away from the iridescence in the foundation?

Barbara: No it's very sheer so it won't.

kia: how would you prep skin with an oily t zone before the hyperreal foundation?

Barbara: To prep, use MAC Oil Control Lotion on your combination/oily t-zone skin. It is a lightweight, silky matte moisturizer that provides both shine control and moisture to your skin throughout the day. It's an ideal base for foundation (including Hyper Real).

Barbara: Click here for the MAC Moisturizers page.

kia: great!

kia: i feel prepared now for when i go into the store.. oh last question

kia: how does face and body foundation compare to the other foundations granted we know it's great coverage for not only face, but the body as well?

Barbara: It's on par in terms of coverage with Select Tint SPF 15 Foundation, so more sheer than all of the others. It's a dewy/satin finish and also water resistant if you need that.

Barbara: Have fun at the MAC store Kia! I hope the information I have provided will assist you in your product selections. info: Thank you for chatting with us. If we can be of further assistance, please contact us again.

Yummy411: CoverGirl LashBlast, Becca Sheer Tint Moisturizer Product Reviews, Spoiled Pretty Give a Way

Blogger has been giving major issues with posting pics. Blogger users would complain, but the drama never really happened to me... until these last few days =(

Anyhoos, on to reviews:
I walked into the makeup aisles of my local WalMart and saw a huge display with new CoverGirl, Drew Barrymore's face and pretty fat orange mascara tubes dangling beneath. Finally! The new CoverGirl Lash Blast had arrived. I was super excited because I loved LashExact. I own VolumeExact- it was nice, but didn't necessarily tickle my fancy. This however, should give me the results that I was expecting from the VolumeExact, right? Besides, it's their biggest brush ever. I picked up a tube in very black and ripped it open to play once I got home.
The wand: Same rubber brush head and it is huge. I kept making marks on my lid until I worked a little more gently with the brush. I love the tiny, precise bristles on the head. They are good for getting those inner lashes and lower lid lashes. Separated my lashes well, but the thickness of my lashes was comparable to other mascara jobs.
Formula: A nice and true black, not as thick as DiorShow, but covered lashes well.
Packaging: I like the change of color, but the tube is fat and bulky for me, which is why I never gravitated to those two step mascaras- primer and mascara.
Overall: Not a must have if you already have a mascara that works well.

Becca Luminous Skin Color Tinted Moisturizer was quite shocking. I tried on a shade in nude. Can't go wrong with a tinted moisturizer. Should fit me right? Out comes an opaque greenish, mustard colored product. I was afraid to put it on as I added it to my quick, before I head out the door routine. I don't have time to deal with a mess or bad look. I rubbed it on my face and I felt like I had mud slicks on my face. What have I done? I thought. I continued to rub it in. For a few second I felt my face looked dirty, but as it settled, it looked like I had healthy, sun tanned skin; a sophisticated glow (without the powdery-ness of a matte bronzer gone wrong.) Vibrant skin, without the over done, sunkissed look (too illuminating, shimmery, etc.) Not here.
Formula: Packed with anti-oxidant vitamins, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic ingredients with SPF 25. Not heavy or greasy; settled in on the skin well.
Price: Out of my tinted moisturizer budget ball park- $40/ 1.7 fl oz
Overall: This brand offers 15 shades! Truly something for everyone. I actually felt like I was wearing 'adult' makeup and not straddling any lines between preteen and sophisticated makeup. I'm sure I could wear more shades than this one in nude. I love the performance of this product, the price is the killer here. If I ever feel the need to be indulgent, I might pick up a bottle. Otherwise, I'll head to Smashbox for a feel good, vitamin-infused formula for a couple of dollars less.

Contest: I know I love contest so here's one for us: Daneen over at Spoiled Pretty has teamed up with Face Boutiqe to give away some beauty booty to spoil yourself pretty. Head over there now and get in on the action =) Click here!
