May Pretty Committee Meetup!

I've missed meeting up with the ladies of The Pretty Committee (TPC, our monthly makeup meetup group) so much! We planned for a big tea party shindig at a local mansion with foreign themed gardens, but we cancelled due to the weather and didn't have a proper rain date in place. I lived and learned!

However, a few of us didn't want to let the day go to waste and decided to do light shopping around Georgetown. Due to prior engagements, I met up with the girls a bit later for the sweetest part of all... cupcakes at the now infamous, Georgetown Cupcake shop.

Delicious, designer cupcakes were just what we needed. After standing in line, in the rain nonetheless, we we able to get in, get our treats and score a table in the intimate space. We chatted, caught up on our ideas, aspirations and more. A great time was had by all.

(Sheryl, me, Nikkia and Shana)

(Thanks Sheryl for the pics!)

Georgetown Cupcake had cute cupcakes, but Red Velvet Cupcakery is just as good if you aren't in the Georgetown or Bethesda area. The advantage of GC is that they have a dine-in space, even if limited. Both will have fierce competition as New York's Crumb cupcakes are moving to town! The huge personal cake size cupcakes are a great bang for your buck! (I haven't heard word of when they will be set to open.)

Pretty Committee Glitter Look!

The Pretty Committee met up this past weekend at the same place we first met over a year ago, Co Co Sala! For this night out I wanted to try a look that I've been waiting to experiment with... word to the wise: don't experiment before rushing out of the door!

Anyhoo I did a more or less dramatic glitter look thanks to these two: Pixiwoo and Aziajs. Here's the glitter I used: MAC's Jewelmarine and Sally's Girl Lavish Lavendar (sooo pretty! Like a fairy's wings! Something like Scrangie's RBL nail polish, but with a more amethyst base than blue.)
Here's blurred swatch of the Sally's Lavish Lavendar glitter.

Now, on to the look:

Ok, so this definitely wasn't a Pixiewoo or Face from Aziajs, but it was fun working with the glitter, lashes and Lavendar Whip!
**The kid told me I looked like the Avatar girl! LOL**

The Pretty Committee Meet up September!

Hi lovelies!
The Pretty Committee met up at Indulj on the famous U Street Corridor for a fab sunday brunch with live grown and sexy go-go.
(*Go-go is the local music genre in DC. Many of the local, urban bands are go-go bands. For our more sophisticated night, the band covered artists such as Sade, Jay-Z and more!)

Our theme this month was Sex and the City- channeling our favorite character or over all fabulousness to feel sexy in the city! Nikkia stepped out with a classic Ruby Woo, glam, red lip. I chose copper glitter and pink with pink ruffles!

Look who we met up with at Indulj! Tia, ArTiastryMUA for the twitter folk or ArTiastry, another DMV area blogger and makeup artist.

Sheryl also came out! Not being from DC, but Baltimore, I hope the Go-go didn't grind her ears! lol
Sunday brunch at Indulj was a great event. It's a small intimate space with great southern food. They make a mean peach martini and the brunch special is $25 bottomless mimosas. To be sure to get a seat, getting in before 6 is highly suggested. After, entry is free before 6pm, but the party really starts around 7pm. The crowd is jumping by 8-9pm. Being a mom a Sunday night party isn't my thing, but it was nice to experience and have a ladies night out ;)

Here we are outside of the club. Yeh, had to edit with the black block. Didn't want my vijay-jay underarms to ruin our picture!

A quick photo in the car, before returning to mommy land!

The face I wore to the meet up:

Revlon ColorStay Foundation in Rich Tan

Ben Nye translucent powder

Painterly paint pot as a base

Copper reflects glitter, used wet on lids, inner corner and bottom lid

Passionate eye shadow in the crease

Carbon eye shadow in the outer v

Penultimate liquid liner in Rapid Black

L'Oreal Liquid Eye Kohl in brown on bottom lash/waterline

MAC lashes #42

On a Mission Blush

August Pretty Committee Meet Up!

The pictures are all mixed up, but y'all I'm not messing with Blogger right now. So just uh, follow along and make sense of it all!

This is my look I wore with the addition of Fuschia glitter (?) in the outer corner.

What'choo talking 'bout Willis?
We went to Cadillac Ranch with a cow girl theme (hence our plaid). I thought I was game for a ride on the mechanical bull, but after being front row to the show.. ehhh I opted out. You callin' me a punk? Whateva!
Smile!
There's Nikkia! It was just she and I this time for some girl chat!
Okay, last cam whore pic. Here I'm showing off my MAC Chrome Yelllow on the lid, Off the Page on the outer corner and Artistic License technakohl liner on the bottom lid. Revlon lashes! A full strip and an extra layer on the outer corner! Maybelline Colorsensational lipstick in Yummy Plummy.

The Pretty Committee March Meet up

Round 2!

(To save my 3 column layout, I had to redo the post completely!)
Thanks to slvrlips, kendall, askmewhats, jamilla camel, shana, coffee, phyrra, jojoba, my fashion frenzy, jensmakeupbag, and connie de alwis for all of your wonderful comments on the initial post!

The ladies of The Pretty Committee did it up again for the month of March.
This time, we made our way to Cazbar Restaurant in Baltimore, MD for some Mediterranean food and belly dancing!

The pictures are out of order thanks to Blogger!
The gang!
myself with Nykia, another belly dancer from Toya's troupe
Shana and Suzie take 2
Pics of the looks before getting dressed and going out.
I did my look based on a beautiful tutorial by Miss Chevious. When I saw her look, I knew it would be perfect for this themed outing. I changed my colors to green and black though. Please check out her tutorial! I used my Coastal Scents 88 palette to achieve the look.
(*Note to self: only use 1-2 colors from the palette per look. The colors are hard to blend)

[ETA] Face: MAC Studio Stick Foundation NC40, Medium Dark Natural MSF to set
Cheeks: Flirt's Heartthrob blush with a dark Ben Nye setting powder to contour
Lips: NYX Natural lip liner, Shy Girl cremesheen lipstick and Milani Lip Mix in Lip Fuse

The belly dancers giving us a taste of their craft! Far right is Jezal, the star of the show!
Sorry, no food porn but the food was delish and I definitely look forward to going back soon! Thanks Toya!

Yummy411: Cult of Cherry Party with the Pretty Committee (Photo Heavy!)

To start, I had to get You Don't Know Jacques off of my nails. My sister helped me out by swatching some of my choices:

(left to right) Finger Paints polish in Be a Pal-ette, China Glaze's Crystal Ball, Icing's Awkward and China Glaze's Wagon Trail. Not great swatches, but she was giving me an idea and wasn't doing this for the blog. But, I like to take pics to see what they will look like under the flash and haha, they end up on the blog!
On her thumb, China Glaze's Lubu Nails.
I'm a sucker for jewel tones and lotsa sparkle!
What did I end up with?

China Glaze's Lubu Heels! (oh and that's my good ole Lancome Fever Gloss in Rainbow)

Lubu Heels is a faint black based polish with red glitter. I thought it would fit in nicely with our Cult of Cherry theme for The Pretty Committee meetup. Next, I'll definitely be wearing the Wagon Trail... LOVE!

The Pretty Committee met up on Friday night at Lauriol Plaza to celebrate Cult of Cherry, remember that collection? Great Mexican food with rounds of swirl margaritas!

Here's Nikkia and Sheryl

The group seated (left) Nikkia and myself. (Right) Sheryl, Shawnta hiding and Suzie wayy back there LOL

Suzie and Shawnta. Are you all catching the array of Cult of Cherry looks going on?

Nikkia and myself.

Sheryl (I didn't crop Shawnta out of the pic cuz she was wearing a great red lippie!)

For those of you bloggers that love to take pics of food and get readers all hungry, here ya go! Suzie's plate.

Suzie with her mojito.
Shawnta's food
My tastey dish of shrimp covered in Jamaican mango sauce with vegetables over rice. Smackin' ya lips yet?

Some pretty flowers that made me smile... carnations!

Me, trying to do the dark lip and debuting my Dottie Bird earrings that I recently got from AccesoRehab.

My FOTD

Eyes- HiP Lofty paint, Brash e/s from Spice Chocolate Quad on lid, Sweet Chestnut from quad on second half of lid, both aforemention shadows swept outside of eye to the top of my cheeks (I don't care that it may have looked like a rash, I liked it!), Soft Brown e/s in crease, Carbon on outer v, Sharp e/s on tear duct, black liquid liner on top lid, UD's Zero liner on waterline, UD's Lucky liner on bottom lid, L'Oreal Double Extend mascara, liquid liner black dots on left cheek. Cork e/s and Swiss Chocolate e/s in brows. Concealer to highlight.

Lips- MAC's nightmoth lip liner and Kirsch matten lipstick, sometimes it was topped with Lancome's Fever Gloss in Rainbow.

Face- MAC Face and body foundation, Mineralize Skinfinish loose powder foundation

I'm more of a nude girl, so this would really be my style. See my new babies (the earrings)?

Suzie remembered the feathered lashes that I loved and gave me heads up when she found some at her local drugstore. We are in the same area. You'd think they would have them at my local store too! Thanks Suzie!!!
