Fragrance Survey: February 2012

Fragrance Now 2012

Most recent fragrance purchase: Halle Berry Reveal the Passion
I haven't tried the original Reveal. but Reveal the Passion tickled my fancy.  It's a familiar fruity floral scent.  If you like Coach Poppy, Britney Spears Fantasy and the like, you will like this.  I had sworn off anymore cavity- inducing, overly sugary  (not to be confused with sweet) fragrances, but what I like about RtP is that there is a note that brightens it up.  Not sure what it is, but it keeps it from being too heavy, warm and overbearing as the others can be.
Wonderstruck by Taylor Swift is another recent purchase (not pictured).

Fragrance on classic status: Insolence by Guerlain
This has reached classic status for me. It's sweet and elegant.  Its character is demurely defined, so you don't have to worry about your fragrance defining you before you open your mouth.  It melds with you. This is my fragrance when I can't decide on anything else. Perfect for formals and daytime wear... or anytime for sophistication ;)
Gucci Envy Me has also reached classic status for me (not pictured).

Fragrance that surprised me most: Betsey Johnson Too Too
The bottle is 'too too' cute!  LOL.  The bottle just needs a leather biker jacket to complete the look; at least that's what came to my mind.  Does this smell like a rebel rocking ballerina? Nope. Mila Kunis in Black Swan? Maybe.  It is fun and flirty, but warm, hearty and more sensuous.  Almost what I expect from the sage designer that dons heavy liner and grungy hair, but is full of life in her small packaged frame. Can I share that while I love this fragrance, there's some note in it that gives me have a hunger sensation. No bueno... but I said I love this, right?  This smells good on the young, mature and men too.
Reveal the Passion and Wonderstruck were fragrances that surprised me also.

Fragrance to be restocked: Dolce & Gabbana Rose The One
My signature. The end.
I could use a roller ball of Envy Me 2.

Fragrances that are on my 'to-investigate' list:
Jimmy Choo (not pictured)- I wasn't sure how to feel about this one, which made me even more intrigued!  Must sample again!
Mary J. Blidge My Life (not pictured)- CVS had this promoted in a circular about 3 weeks ago.  It has not surfaced at any CVS I've visited. I even asked a manager to order it for the next shipment. No luck yet. Why????? I'm still on the hunt. I could purchase from HSN, but I'd rather at CVS.

How would you answer the fragrance survey?  Share already! I'm dying to know! ;)

Happy Valentine's Day: Sweetest Tabu

Not sure if you taste like candy or want to this Valentine's Day, but you can definitely smell like candy! Here are a few of my favorite sugary sweet fragrances.. Yum!

Clockwise from top left:

1. Coach Poppy- currently using

2. Britney Spears Fantasy- about to purchase

3. Aquolina Pink Sugar- the original sugary pheromone

4. Miss Dior Cherie- it gets so sugary I have a hard time wearing it sometimes.

Do you have any favorite sweet fragrances?

YSL Parisienne Fragrance

Ahh Kate looks fabulous, enticing us to try the new YSL Parisienne. I've never been to Paris. Could the scent take me there? Will this be a Parisian experience? Is this the way Paris, the city of romance smells? Deep, sensuous, edgy, mysterious, seductive?

With notes of blackberry, damask rose, violet, peony, blackberry, musk and patchouli this fragrance makes me feel alluring and sophisticated at first, but after total dry down, I'm torn between this being a mature frangrance (not fitting for me) or even a slight lingering of fragrance over a personal smell, thanks to the warm, woodsy notes. Confusing much? I am about this fragrance.

The warmer months welcome this flirty, but muted fragrance. Will you?

Let me know if you've tried it! Wanna hear your experience with it. Have you been to Paris? What I'm experiencing, does it embody Paris in a bottle? Paris nightlife in a juice? Tell me all about it!

Halle Berry!!! Halle Berry.

Ok, I know I'm sooo late, but there must be others out there like me that whenever a craze hits Youtube (or any media for that matter), I'm actually NOT inclined to run and experience it LOL.

However, while trying to catch up with Facebook, Halle Berry dancing to Hurricane Chris on the Ellen Show faced me again. Hate the song, glad I watched the vid!!

How cute is Halle?! I wonder what lash curlers and mascara Ellen actually uses? Have you smelled the Halle Berry perfume yet? The tester fragrance is never available at the store when I visit =(

Yummy411: Eva Mendes and CK's Secret Obsession

New scent from Calvin Klein, new poster girl in the campaign. That poster girl is Eva Mendes, who created the controversial commercial for the ad that you see above. Wanna ask her about it? You have the opportunity to do so (or about anything else for that matter) by visiting the Secret Obsession's Facebook page and leaving your question on the wall. Eva will select 5 of the questions and answer them in a special post hosted by our friends over at BellaSugar. Hurry and get your questions in. You have between now and Thursday!

Being more or less of an Obsession fan (have you been put to sleep by Obsession Night?), I jumped at the opportunity to try the newest fragrance. Top Notes are plum, rose, and mace. Followed by middle notes of jasmine, orange flower, and tuberose. Lastly, the base notes of burnt amber, cashere woods, vanilla, and sandalwood come into play (basenotes.net). Sounds flirty, sensual and warm, no? I wanted to have love at first site, stick around for a drink and maybe even have a night cap, but all was lost when I was forced into a dirty night cap (think: bad date with Flava Flav.) The heady base notes came charging full force ahead. I tried to wait for a good dry down and get to the middle notes, but those strong notes of burnt amber and other woodsy, incense smells stayed right on until I was overwhelmed. After all, those are the base notes, end of story. My chemistry probably reacted to the fragrance in such a way, but with all the controversy it's worth your curiosity to try it and putting your stamp of approval (or disapproval) on it.

Tried it? Love it? Hate? Tell me what you think!
