My hair is growing y'all. I'm getting more comfortable with it day by day, but I can't wait until I'm at a point that I feel confident in maintaining it myself.
(July 2007)
(May 2008)
Whenever I make a trip to New York, (Thanks Amina!) If I ever make it to Indianapolis I'm going to see Thierry Baptiste. I am intrigued and in love with him and his craft!
oh my god! Your locks look fabulous! I thought Thierry Baptiste lived in Indianapolis! 3 months ago when I was seriously thinking about locking, I was going to make an appointment with him for a consultation.
Even though I think I'll stick with the fro(I am still new to natural hair and i can't keep styles for more than a week), I still looove and admire locks. Maybe in the future...
Look how pretty those locs are!! Me and a certain other blogger are supposed to start our loc journey soon. I just want to wake up and have them at your length. Is that possible?
@ nywele: thank you so much! oops, thanks amina. he is and i changed the info. I was routing through different pages of ny locticians and grouped him in. yes as much as people think locs are so permanent, they have a lot of versatility as we can see from thierry!
@ divine blackness: lol i know right! it's worth the wait ;) (at least that's what i tell myself!) the process makes you appreciate them more.
@ dollfaced rebel: thank you!!
@ felicity: thank you!!
@ samida: you can do it! lol.. thank you! i got it in black and green, but now i think i want a white one and another color.. is that tacky to get them in all colors LOL!
Ms. Yummy, replying to the your comment: I haven't used any drugstore products that I like, so you'll just have to spend the cash on Mr. Yummy. :) - p.s. your hair looks good.
your hair locks rocks out loud. *attempting to sound cool*. I wonder though, is it hard to maintain? especially washing and stuff. cuz I've had a slight urge to do cornrows (I think that's what it's called) but I don't think it'll look good on me. especially being asian. I'd sooo look like a hip hopper wannabe. lol
Your hair looks great! You've had a good amount of growth in a pretty short period of time. I know what you mean about self-maintenance . . . I'm not there yet either.
@ nywele (again) so why are we looking for plane tix to make a trip out of getting out hair done in indianapolis with thierry LOL!
@ (g): corrine bailey rae? i need to see a pic of her. i thought she last had a curly fro or something...
@ connie: thanks! no it's not hard to maintain at all! you are supposed to see a loctician every 2-3 weeks, but for me that's not the case. i don't have the daily worry of what will i do to my hair to straighten it etc. but i do get irritated when i can't get an appointmnet at those designated times =( here is a website that will give you more info on locs! i hope you find it useful. people locking their hair can wash them as often as they'd like unless they are just starting out. a dry shampoo is needed for hair that hasn't locked yet. cornrows are a more temporary style than locs and need to be redone or restyled a when your hair calls for it. you don't maintain locs and cornrows the same. i went to japan and saw many asians that had so many styles similar to those of african americans.. i was shocked!!! and speechless!
@ nerd girl: thank you! i'm super interested in self maintanence though, but only as my hair matures and get a bit longer.
aaw! Please let me know when you come to Indy and I'd drive up there... I've been having my lock moment and the urge is so strong!! I think maybe the best solution is to go ahead and then we'll see! Your hair has grown soooo much!! what products does your loctician use?
wow, you hair looks great. i wish i had the pictures from when i first cut my perm off and i was rockin the fro. it really is a beautiful thing. i've been growing my locs for 9 months now and i love them.

Your hair is very lovely!
Fabulous! I've seriously thought about joining the loc movement, but can't make that move.
BTW, I'm swooning over that green blouse.

@ BGG: thanks honey!!
Your hair has grown so much in under a year. I'm with Nywele, I can't keep styles for too long so I'm not ready to loc just yet.
