Yummy411: Coastal Scents 10 Piece Blush Palette Review

Coastal Scents 10 Piece Blush Palette

For all intents and purposes, I will refer to the blushes as follows: The first row across will be A1,2,3,4 and 5. The second row will be B1,2,3,4 and 5.
Hmm? A blush, a contour and something on my jawline-- the jawline color looks like B1.

When I swatch blushes , I swatch everywhere! We only have 2 cheeks! LOL. For sure, on my forehead, your left, I am wearing A4- an orange with a goldish sheen. Possibly on my cheek, your left, I'm wearing A5- bronzey brown. Think MAC Format blush, but with more of an orangey undertone than a pink one. Believe it or not, one of them is on my nose.. try A2 or B2. Dunno. It became irrelevant when I couldn't see it =p

On my forehead, where I'm trying to shade the swatch so that you can see the color is A1- a dusty, muted soft plum. My cheek, I do believe I'm wearing B4- bright pink.

Where do I start? Of course with the good!

Pros:
-variety of colors
-great color pay off
-great for fair skins
-great price

Cons:
-not so brown girl friendly except for about 3 colors at most
-not for beginners in makeup
- doesn't blend well

My sister who is about an nc45-47 had trouble wearing some of the blushes. (Many of you think she has a light complexion.) I had trouble pulling off some of the shades. So definitely not as brown girl friendly as I had hoped. However, if you don't already own other blush palettes and you need to build your professional kit, this is a starter option. Because, these blushes don't blend well (I applied some and tried to even out the application and just couldn't get it to move) these don't make for the best blushes for people who won't take the time to 'work it out'. When I say work it out, i mean: go back over it with your setting powder to help blend, buff it until it moves, etc. Other ways you need to work this palette/blushes: you a cream color base under the blush, layer with some bronzer, etc. Because the blushes don't give you an even application it's easy to look like a clown which also makes this blush palette NON- foolproof.

I can't wait to hear how others reviewed this palette. Does anyone else own it?

I've been eyeing this palette (as well as the contouring one) so I really appreciated the review and swatches. I'm always worried about chalky looking blushers so this was good. Thanks so much beautiful!

another gal that's been eyeing this palette too.

and i saw they recently came out with another really pretty shadow palette that has some blushes too... I ended up purchasing the contour palette and the neutral one.

but thanks for reviewing this one, I think alot of us were on the fence about purchasing it.

I didn't buy this, I planned to but I thought I have some colors I like and some I wouldn't, so I didn't buy it. Thanks for the review and for swatching it all on your wonderfully looking face :D :D :D

The idea of a blush palette sounds good if you're a makeup artist. Since most people are either warm, cool, or neutral tone, I guess nobody can comfortably wear all of them. I can't wear orange blush at all!

Hey Yummy, thanks so much for this review!! I have had this palette in my coastal scent cart for about a week and now I know its not going to work for me. I the colors look fabulous in the pot but if thy don't blend well . what's the point

Cool! Thanks for the review.

Yep...I pass. I'm darker than you and if you only 3 of 12 shades are brown girl friendly then its a wrap. Plus, I'm not a "work it out"-er. I want intensity right away. This is why I'm not a makeup artist and I leave that talent to those who have that talent! lol! i have no makeup patience. and to make it so bad I have products and products that need patience!

I have been wanting this blush pallette and I'm so glad that you did a review on this. If these colors didn't show up good on you, then they wouldn't show up on me at all! The colors are still pretty...I'm just dissapointed that the color pay off isn't suited for us brown girl.

Ahh I've said it a hundred time before. This is definitely numero uno on my MUST HAVES list. & seeing this post just makes me want it even more!!

I was about to do a review on the same palette, I totally agree with you. If you need a palette to start your kit then you should get it, but I rather my MAC and Nars blushes.

i had a feeling these wouldn't show up on darker tones...i'll skip on it thanks to you because most of my clients are women of color...i was also looking at the contour palette but i was thinking it might be the same problem!

I was going to pass on this palette anyway since I had a feeling it would leave me ashy. Now I will definitely pass.

I really love this palette!! You're right though about it not being brown friendly..I know once summer comes I will only be able to use 3 colors at most.

I'm not sure if you saw this post, but this was my first reaction to it..

You're welcome! The only color I have a problem with is A4..it just doesn't want to blend.

yea i agree its not brown girl friendly at all. I just purchased it recently and I can get away with some colors for a slight highlight but that's about it.

La Femme offers a similar palette that's to die for!

Hi. I agree..although these are great shades, they tend not to show up on darker skin. I got these for my clients but will have to look for another palette. Any suggestions?
