Yummy411: Concealing My Dad's Dark Circles

I'm a bit neurotic about my dark circles that I've inherited from my dad. No matter how many concealers, foundations, brightening powders, etc. I've tried, I never feel I've concealed enough. I'm learning to live with them a bit, as I check mags and some of the world's prettiest people do not have clear, bright skin under their eyes.. and I'm not talking the photoshopped promotional pics. This time I wanted to see if I could cover the dark circles of all dark circles: my dad's dark circles!

Sleep deprivation, allergies, dehydration and diet plays a major role in the appearance of our dark circles.

Here is my dad's dark circle, no makeup.

Eek, one of the concealers was way too light!I tried some trusty black opal and it seems to be a better match.

As much as I like the coverage, there was a tinge of gray that needed to be canceled out in a different light (he's using a mag to cover half of his face.)

I took him to the studio (aka my bathroom). All looks well and is a drastic improvement.

Now I wanted to try another trick to cover dark circles... the orange cream! Maybe this would get rid of the gray tinge! I only had some orange type lipstick, but once applied to my dad, it appeared pink. DIY Eve Pearl's famous salmon concealer perhaps?? Basing your concealer with a orange cream color base is supposed to get rid of dark circles completely!
End result! The tinge of gray is gone! Amazing! Yes, scroll back up to see my dad dark circles before we started this process... wowzers!

Wow what a big difference! I even had to scroll up a few times to compare the pictures. It even makes him look years younger. I bet he'll love that!!

Oh the troubles of having dark circles.....I totally feel you on not feeling concealed enough even with the most coverage.

You dad is such a team player for volunteering in this post. Go Dad!!!

I will try this orange lipstick trick I've seen it before, but was a lil reluctant because my circles are so hard to conceal. I will try this!!!

Isn't your Daddy a sport? My Dad would give me a side eye if I said anything about the circles under his eyes! He look amazing with the orange lippie!

Papa Yum was a good sport and you did a good job.

I inherited dark circles from my mom. Depending on how much sleep and what I’m eating I either look like kin to a raccoon or I was in a major altercation. I’ve since learned that drinking water, eye serums, sleep and eye creams are my best friends and the darkness isn’t as extreme as it was a few years back. I’m still searching for that super concealer that will make all well…

I cannot believe you have officially applied makeup to every single person in your family but your son. Have mercy!

Anyway, what a great difference it makes. I mean for real, wow!

@ tina marie: yeh he does! he wants to see a dermatologist now!

@ amina: thanks! lol i love my dadyum. i told him the name that you all gave him and he laughs.. i think he secretly likes it. he's the best dad ever! oh and those are just SOME of the contributing factors. for me, it's just a hereditary issue =(

@ marsadie: you're quite welcome!

@ erin: sistas in the fight against dark circles LOL! yeh it's a bit of trial and error. i think if i had an orange color with a dryer, thicker consistency things would work better for me. i think with with my dad's darker skintone, things worked out like a charm!

@ jamila: lol you never lied about dark circles! yeh my fam is the best!

@ askmewhats: thanks!! thanks for scrolling i was too lazy to deal with html and other pic programs to do a side by side =p

@ emilita: thank you! don't be so harsh on dad. ahhh you never know! lol

@ shawnta: what do you need orange lipstick for? you don't have dark circles!

@ dao: thank you!! yes, he's the best!

@ b: lol.. yeh he wasn't that hesitant even when i told him his pics were going online. maybe after his obama support, it didn't phase him.

@ product junkie diva: hey lady! thanks so much!!

@ suziec: thanks!!! please let me know which cream you like the best for your dark circles. i have some old loreal stuff but i'm not sure it's really doing anything.

@ makeupbyrenren: i heard about the concealer palette from the makeup girl a while back. it's on my to-buy list! can't wait to see your post!

@ trent: yes you must!!

@ jamie: yes i do!!

@ juvenescent: hey now i gotta get some practice in.. on my son? 0_0 lol.. he likes lip gloss too, but i had to keep him away and just buy him his own chapstick. lol

it really is crazy. with the darkness his skin looks ultra textured under the eyes, with them concealed, the skin even looks a bit smoother.
