yummy411: Revlon Beyond Natural Smoothing Primer

Revlon Beyond Natural Smoothing Primer

I recently picked this product up after much debate and eyeing it for a while. In another post's comments I was asked about it. Here's what I have to say:

I like it!
Why: I never had problems with my pores, lines or wrinkles, but recently when wearing powder blush, I could see the 'wide open' pores and my cheeks looked grainy. After using this, the pores were less noticeable and my skin looked smooth. Yes! Mission accomplished. The formula is light, lightly scented and available at the drugstore for a reasonable price. You get a .85 oz bottle for about $12-13. The product may not absorb instantly i nto the skin upon application, but given a few seconds (1 min or 2) the product dries nicely and melds into the skin for a smooth surface! Another reason I like it: I was trying out Maybelline's liquid mineral foundation that I primed with this Revlon primer. I was caught in the rain and I knew that I was surely dripping liquid foundation ewww! I tried to blot my face lightly and hopefully didn't appear to be an uneven mess. When I checked the mirror, I still appeared to have some even decent coverage. Was it the primer that helped? Not positive, but I sure think so!

I don't have the Monistat Chafing gel or the Smashbox primer to compare it to. When I did try the Smashbox's infamous primer, I didn't have any real concerns for the primer to address-- again those lines, pores, wrinkles AND the fact that I wasn't into foundation really at that point. Then, I felt as if I was just adding another unnecessary layer of face products to my face.

If you are in the market for a decent primer that can be found at the drugstore give this a try. This seems ideal for people with dry to normal/combination skin. If you are oily and still want to use them, try following up your foundation with blot powder. I'm unsure if this makes you any oilier than you may already be. My nose gets super oily, but didn't appear any oilier because of this product. Besides, it's Winter.

Have you tried this? What do you think?

Smashbox did not like my skin: my mineral foundation did not hold well and I was still shiny after some hours. Le Monistat gives me black heads so it's the thing I use as my last resort. I really like the one from Laura Geller, it controls oil and makes my skin look smooth.

Thanks for the review. I wouldn't have otherwise known about it. Sounds like it's priced just right too. I'll have to pick up a bottle.

Merry Christmas!

This is awesomeness. I didn't even know that there were any drugstore primers available and I have the same issues and concerns so any cheaper alternatives are wonderful ones! Thanks sweetie & have a wonderful Christmas!

I just saw ads for this in a local magazine (we're kinda slow) and wasn't too taken by it. After your review, I think I may just give it a try once my current primer runs out. They have that Beyond NAtural foundation as well that I'd like to try.

pics .... Must admit you have a great sense of style. Keep up the good
work.I have enjoyed reading your blog and thought of dropping in a word …
PS: I have initiated an idea to create a fashion and style blogroll where
bloggers from the jewelry, fashion, style and beauty could participate.
All you need to do is to add my blog link to your blog and i'll do the
same.
That way, we could have a mutual partnership and we could refer visitors to
each other's blog.
Please let me know if you would be interested.

Thanks!

i haven't tried this but i recommend it to ppl who want a drugstore primer...it's kinda pricey though for a drugstore item...i also like the monistat, works for me!

I'm in search of a primer as well, but I have sensitive skin that's prone to breakouts. I've heard that Monistat isn't great for those with sensitive skin.

@ dao: wow what a journey for a primer. glad you found one that you like!

@ join the gossip: hi leeanne! check it out and let us know what you think about it!

@ yas: hi! you are too sweet. yeh this is one of two that i've tried. i think some of the other lines like vichy and lumene has primers also, but i like this best out of the two that i've tried.

@ kim @ a.l.o.s.: please try it out and let us know what you think!

@ connie: i felt the same way, but this one particular product intrigued me.as soon as the beauty sales went up, i had to grab it finally! i hope you get to try it soon!

@ trent: merry christmas and have a happy new year!

@ mochablonde: yay another revlon primer fan!!

@ juvenescent: what are you waiting for? lol

@ fashionfrenzy: let us know what you think when you do! happy holidays to you too!

@ andre: thanks!!

@ makeupbyrenren: yeh it's def a good option. i thought it was rather expensive too for a drugstore product. however, since i'm pleased with the results i wouldn't mind spending that much for what it does. i didn't get those results when trying the rimmel primer. i have yet to try the monistat. i've gotten mixed reviews on it.

@ fabuless beauty: you would prob have to consult with Ren on that one as i've never tried the monistat. i could understand that the monistat isn't for sensitive skin.

I've been looking at this for a while. I'm still debating on whether or not to get it. Smashbox and Bare Minerals primers worked better than Monistat for me. If I can catch this on sale then I'll give it a try.

I bought the primer and honestly am still wondering what all the buzz is about when it comes to primer.
My feeling is to invest truly beneficial skincare then if need be apply a thin layer of foundation.
