Beauty Lip Service

This was my first time ever getting my lip waxed.  The topic came up in beauty discussion and I grew a bit weary, wondering if  my faint hair (IMO) on my upper lip was unsightly in my makeup looks. I found out I was in the minority amongst my beauty fanatics that don't get my lip waxed regularly.  I went to get it  done and I couldn't believe how red and lumpy my lip got! Please tell me this is a first timer's experience??

I unfortunately had errands lined up after this and had to look like this.... My hair is growing back a bit now and I bought a hair remover kit by Sally Hansen.  You wipe the hair off for painless removal.

Any tips, advice, funny stories of hair removal??

Poor thing! To be honest, that area is just too sensitive for me to have it waxed. I do have my brows waxed but my brows are like strands of steel so they can handle it. My lip area has pretty fine hairs that don't grow quickly. I tend to just shave it because I never get irritation and they grow slowly.

Whenever I got my brows done, the skin would get all red and swell up. They say beauty is pain so I didn't think anything of it. So my friend convinced me to get my lip done. She got hers done with no problem. So I go and get my lip done. My lip was swollen and red for the rest of the day. The next day the swelling had gone down, but my lip was really red and irritated for the next couple of days. Of course I got it done on a Tues after work so when I went in the next day, my coworkers kept asking me what happened. LOL I've since learned that my skin, including my brows are too thin for waxing so I use Nair on my lip and do my brows myslf with a razor.

Amija- thanks! i was wondering if it was normal. my sister told me that's what happens after, but even days after i had little bumps and whiteheads for like a week or more! i may try one more time, but again, I have my SH kit as a back up.

I have some fuzz. I'm never again touching it lol. It was painful. I did not like seeing the little bumps afterward either.

I'll never do that again. It was way too painful for these precious lips.

I use those little razors your supposed to use on your eyebrows! They work great and the hair doesn't grow back in darker. I use it on my girlie side burns too :). I"m like you I can't wax my face, I get these little red bumps all over with the red swollen face..

Any upper lip tampering is pretty painful. As much as it hurts I thread my upper lip and I swear, although subtle, it makes all the difference in the world, at least to me. It has not gotten any less painful but I still do it. Wax has made my eyebrows red and bumpy so I wouldn't dare try it there. I used a Nad's wax strip there before and it wasn't so bad. I would say less painful than threading. To this day I can't get through a threading session without tears and jumping out of the chair and making the lady stop several times. But the more you pull the hairs out (whether with wax or thread) the less they will grow. Good luck. Threading hurts but works
